တစ္ခါတစ္ေလက်ေတာ့ ေလာကႀကီးဟာမတရားဘူးရည္မြန္ရယ္..

နင္ၾကားရဲ႕လားငါမသိတတ္ႏိုင္ဘူး...
နင္လြမ္းေနမွာကို ငါမၾကည့္ရက္ႏိုင္ေပမယ့္....
ငါကေတာ့နင့္ကိုလြမ္းေနတယ္..
ကိုယ့္လမ္းကိုယ္ေလွ်ာက္ၾကေပမယ့္...
ခရီးဆံုးေရာက္ဖို႔...လိုေသးတယ္...

Myanmar chronicles gave guidelines to the king, by pointing out the mistakes made by the earlier kings. King Narathihapate’s (Tarokpyay Min) Chief Queen Saw also admonished the king by pointing out his mistakes in riddles.

Bore not thy country’s belly
Abuse not thy country’s forehead
Fell not thy country’s banners
Pluck not thy country’s eyes
Break not thy country’s tusk
Sully not thy country’s face
Cut not thy country’s feet and hands

In this riddle, belly means the rich people who represents the wealth of the country, forehead means the able officers in the king’s service, the banner means pious man of the kingdom, eyes mean the wise men who could advise the king, tusk means princes of the royal family, face means unmarried daughters of the land, feet and hand means soldiers who guard the land from all dangers.

A king who committed these mistakes would meet defeat and death. In the words of Queen Saw the chronicles stated that “Not even the Universal monarch, King sovereign ruler of four great island and two thousand lesser islands surrounding them is not free from rise and fall, separations and death. Thus the kings were warned that nobody could escape the law of impermanence, decay and death, according to the teaching of Buddha.

Time honored conventions of the country had laid down a pattern of good behavior for kings. A good king was expected to observe unfailingly the ten kingly virtues. They

are-
1. Alms giving
2. Observing five precepts
3. To give aid to poor and needy
4. To be straightforward
5. To be soft-hearted
6. To restrain anger
7. Not to treat the subjects cruelly
8. To be kind
9. To be forgiving
10. Not to oppose people’s will
Apart from the king must possess eight virtues (Razagon) which are to act like
1. The sun
2. The moon
3. Yama Min
4. Thagyamin King of the Nats
5. The Ocean
6. The Rain
7. The Earth
8. The Wind
1. To act like the Sun means to collect the tax gradually, as the Sun’s rays rise slowly.
2. To act as Moon means to give collness and light to the people.
3. To act as Yama Min means to give decisions regardless of anybody depending only on his good and bad points.
4. To act as Ocean means to receive only what is due and not to demand from people.
5. To act as Thagyamin means to look after the good people and to protect them.
6. To act as Rain means to give equal rewards to the people for their services as shower of rains fell equally on everybody.
7. To act as Earth means that the king must be as firm and slid as the earth so everybody could depend on the king.
8. To act like the wind means that the wind can traverse every nook and corner, the king must be able to collect information about everyone-including highest officials to common folks.
